Our Mission

Amor y Esperanza para Honduras, Inc exists to provide a better quality of life for the most vulnerable families in the Toncontín community of Honduras with Christ-centered compassion. This will be accomplished by serving children through providing hot, nutritious lunches Monday through Friday and sharing the message of God's word; providing resources that promote a better quality of education; providing provisions to the neediest elderly individuals; and planning mission trips to support the immediate needs of the community, as applicable.

Our
Vision

Our vision is to see every family in Toncontín nourished, strengthened, and growing in the love of Christ, empowered by hope and faith, and given the opportunity to prosper.

Our
Values

Our core value is Love, following the commandment that Jesus gives us in John 13:34: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

  • Supporting the sick, comforting the brokenhearted, and helping with financial needs within the community of believers.

Kindness and compassion (Ephesians 4:32)

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

  • Active Compassion: Showing warmth and helpfulness ("chrestos") to others, particularly within a community setting, rather than just ignoring offenses.

Integrity (Proverbs 20:7)

“The righteous walk in integrity; blessed are their children after them.”

  • Modeling Integrity: A father or mother who acts with honesty in business and daily life shows their children how to live truthfully.

  • Consistency: A parent whose actions match their words (e.g., in faith and character) teaches children the value of integrity.

Respect (Matthew 7:12)

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”

  • This verse, known as the Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12), is a proactive call to treat others with the same respect, kindness, and love you would want for yourself, and it summarizes foundational moral laws. It goes beyond merely avoiding harm, emphasizing active goodness, empathy, and positive action in relationships

Transparency (Ephesians 4:25)

“Therefore, each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”

  • This Ephesians 4:25 passage calls for replacing dishonesty with integrity, as lying fractures the unity of the community ("one body"). Examples include being honest about your true thoughts, avoiding flattery to please others, confessing mistakes rather than hiding them, and refraining from using gossip to tear others down.
